If somebody doesn’t seem to be themselves, you need to reach out to them and give them a chance to talk about it. You don’t have to be an expert and you don’t have to fix them. You just need to listen.
Try and keep it casual and not ask them a heap of questions. Just encourage them to keep talking with a few “uh huhs”, nods, and “Tell me more mate”. And when they’re finished, maybe just suggest they see their local doctor or ring a helpline.
It’s just a conversation, so give it a shot.
