For those of you born after 1990, this is an alarm clock. It wakes people up in the morning to tell them to go to work. Sometimes it wakes people up on a Saturday, to tell them they forgot to turn it off for the weekend.
As a sleep aid, it is an unrivalled piece of technology, because it is not technology. It is a dumb clock that cannot:
– Text
– Take photos
– Make or receive calls
– Download apps
– Update you on social media
– Tell you your heart beat
– Play funny cat videos
– Or anything else guaranteed to keep you awake half the night.
So, if you want to sleep better, forget about wasting your hard-earned money on some app. Instead, spend $15 on one of these. Then never take your smartphone near your bedroom ever again, because it will only make you stupid through lack of sleep.
The world-renowned Mayo Clinic has a few ideas of its own to help you get a good night’s sleep:

Westy I often ask people in my talks how many use their smartphone as an alarm clock and I would say about 75% typically raise their tired arms.
